How to Choose Right Sewing Machine Needle

Needle and sewing thread are related with each other by means of size. Whenever we are having sewing thread for stitching, we have to check which needle size is proper for sewing thread. 

• Why need to check

If we do not check needle size properly, it may leads to

1. Loose stitch

2. Stitch skipping

3. Puckering

4. Stitch breakage

5. Uneven stitches

• How to check proper needle size for given sewing thread

Procedure

1. Take the sewing thread which we are going to use for stitching, of about 50 cm in length.

2. Pass the thread thorough the needle.

3. Hold both the ends of the tread and stretch vertically and let needle to slide as shown in diagram.

4. If needle slides down while turning slowly with little resistance, we can say that the needle size is proper for respective sewing thread.

5. If needle slides down easily without any resistance or else does not slide, then we can say that needle is not suitable for the given sewing thread.
